Career Opportunity: Secretary Treasurer (CPA)

Aspen View Public Schools is currently recruiting for a Secretary Treasurer to provide leadership in the business and financial management of the division. The position is located at the Division Office in the scenic town of Athabasca, a one and a half hour drive from Edmonton.  Aspen View Public Schools serves the needs of approximately 2800 students in 10 schools, 4 Hutterite Colony schools, 2 outreach schools and educational programming in 1 institutional school. 

The Position 
The Secretary Treasurer is the senior Financial Officer of the Board, as well as its Corporate Secretary. The Secretary Treasurer has responsibility for the Financial Operation of the Division, Operation and Maintenance Services, Transportation, Capital Projects, Records Management and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP). 

In addition to the required CPA designation, a bachelor of commerce or management with a specialization in accounting or financial management, and successful senior level financial management experience would be considered assets. 

This position will report to the Superintendent of Schools and will be an integral member of the Senior Executive Team in the key roles of planning and administering fiscal operations for the division. 

Aspen View Public Schools has been approved for a replacement school in Smoky Lake. This position will have key responsibilities related to this project, depending on the strengths of the successful candidate, therefore project management experience would be an asset. 

The salary for this position is negotiable and will be based on the education, experience and skill set of the successful candidate.
