School Opening Information

All school offices will be open starting Wednesday, August 21.

The first day of classes for Grade 1-12 students is Wednesday, August 28. For Kindergarten students, contact your school office for class dates & times.


Registration forms for K-12 students new to Aspen View are available here or at the school office. Completed forms can be submitted to the school office.

All students requiring school bus transportation for 2019-20 need to complete the Student Bus Registration Form.

Great Beginnings/Pre-Kindergarten Programs

Great Beginnings is an early learning opportunity for children 3-5 years old through a play-based environment. Great Beginnings is offered at Boyle School, H.A. Kostash School in Smoky Lake and Thorhild Central School. Registration forms are available here.

Other schools also offer Pre-Kindergarten programs, depending on enrolment. Contact your school office for more information.


All Aspen View schools use PowerSchool, a web-based home-to-school collaboration system, to provide important information to parents and students including grades and assessment, attendance reports, newsletters and bulletins. PowerSchool can be accessed through any Aspen View website, or download the free app for mobile devices. Contact your child’s school office if you need assistance.

School Councils

Each Aspen View school has a parent council. Attending school council meetings and events are great ways to become informed and engaged in your child’s education. Please contact your child’s school for specific information.

Board of Trustees

Aspen View Public Schools is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of seven members. Board meetings are held throughout the year, and are open to the public. Click here to meet our Trustees and for meeting information.

Division Office

Aspen View Public Schools’ Division Office is located at 3600 48 Avenue in Athabasca. The division is managed by a senior management team that include Superintendent of Schools Neil O’Shea; Associate Superintendent Karen Penney; Secretary-Treasurer Amber Oko; Director of Curriculum and Technology, Donna Wesley; and Director of Student Services, Shannon Smith.
